Understand Old One by Oodgeroo Noonuccal

What if you came back now
To our new world, the city roaring
There on the old peaceful camping place
Of your red fires along the quiet water,
How you would wonder
At towering stone gunyas high in air
Immense, incredible;
Planes in the sky over, swarms of cars
Like things frantic in flight.

 Analysis

Understand Old One is a short poem by Oodgeroo Noonuccal about how if an Aboriginals ancestors came back they would be very shocked to see that their beautiful land that they had looked after their whole lives is now full of buildings, and cars. This gives the reader a sence of guilt because the white men took over their land and destroyed it from its natural state. It bring the reader to the realiseation that the whit men have destroyed our natural environment are replaced it with material objects rather then the beauty it once was.

Journal Entry 9 – Effective Presentations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liQLdRk0Ziw1. What is meant by the 10 – 20 – 30 rule.

This means that the total amount of slides should be no longer then 10 because people loose concentration, the 20 means your presentation should be no longer then 20 minutes and the 30 means your font size should be 30 point because it forces you to know your presentation.2. Explain why it is important to make sure that you are effective in the presentation of your nominee.

It is important because we want to sell our nominee as well as we can so our nominee will get chosen for the marist of the year award and we do this by doin a good presentation.

Journal Entry 8 – A look at Parables

1.) Read the following parables and identify the inspiring quality that Jesus is trying to teach us.

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant

I think Jesus is trying to teach us to forgive like the King forgave that servant and to forgive for something you would want to be forgiven for.
The Parable of the Persistent Widow

I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we should forgive from the heart and not just say you forgive them but really mean it.
The Parable of the Rich Young Man

The hyperlink did not work and i could not find the parable on a search engine

2.) Provide an example of real life situation or person who has demonstrated any of the qualities you have listed.

I believe Mr Nobin displays these qualities by forgiving kids when they make mistakes and he truly means it.

1. Define the term ‘beatitude’.

The beatitudes are eight statements taught by Jesus to explain how you should live your life.

2. Explain the purpose of the beatitudes.

The Beatitudes are a map of life, a series of directives helping us on our journey to be with God. They also designate the actual condition of people who follow God’s guidelines.

3. Select ONE beatitude and describe how inspiring people of faith put into practice the teachings of Jesus. Use an example to support your answer.
“Blessed are they who mourn”, an inspiring person of faith would go comfort them to get them back on their feet and to face there next challenge. An example would be if a persons mother and father died an inspiring person would comfort them.
